Discipline

Fairfax Academy strives to maintain an environment, in which a child will feel both, loved and secure, as well as, intellectually stimulated to cooperate and participate in classroom and recreational activities.  For the preschooler discipline is usually a matter of establishing clear guidelines for expected behavior and consistently enforcing these guidelines.  Each classroom establishes its own classroom rules and, as part of their social development all children learn the concepts of taking turns, listening, saying “please” and “thank-you”, respecting each other’s and the school’s  property, etc.

Special Events

During the school year, Fairfax Academy offers many opportunities for students to enjoy seasonal events and show off their accomplishments.  There are several open-house events held during the year that provide parents with the opportunity to witness and sometime participate in a typical school day.  Students and parents look forward to International Day, Grandparents Day, and the Sing-A-Long program.

Summer Camp

On campus, the children enjoy games, sports, arts and crafts, music, cookouts, water play, story times, and a variety of other age-appropriate activities.  Complementing these good times are a variety of field trips including bowling, nature hikes, visits to parts, putt-putt golf, swimming at nearby pools, roller skating and some optional all-day trips (for those who have completed kindergarten).  Swimming lessons are also available at an additional cost for a two-week session taught by professional swim instructors and lifeguards.

To make each summer unique, each year’s Summer Camp has a special theme.  “A Storybook Adventure” and “Summer under the Big Top” were two past favorites.  Weekly theme activities also add to the fun.  Farm Week (with a trip to the Pet-a-Pet Farm), Magic Week (with magic shows for all the campers), and Fiesta Week (with a theme picnic lunch and the breaking of a piñata made by the campers) are just some of the many special memories of past summers.  Finally, special events, such as Carnival Day (complete with rides!) and an end-of-summer show (to share with Mom and Dad) are scheduled to provide that extra touch that makes each summer special, a never-to-be-forgotten experience!
